Summary

This define creates client certs for a specified server as well as a tarball that can be directly imported into clients

Overview

Examples:

Parameters:

  • server (String)

    Name of the corresponding openvpn endpoint

  • compression (Optional[String[1]]) (defaults to: undef)

    Which compression algorithm to use. This parameter is deprecated in OpenVPN 2.5.

  • dev (Enum['tap', 'tun']) (defaults to: 'tun')

    Device method

  • mute (Integer) (defaults to: 20)

    Set log mute level

  • mute_replay_warnings (Boolean) (defaults to: true)

    Silence duplicate packet warnings (common on wireless networks)

  • nobind (Boolean) (defaults to: true)

    Whether or not to bind to a specific port number

  • persist_key (Boolean) (defaults to: true)

    Try to retain access to resources that may be unavailable because of privilege downgrades

  • persist_tun (Boolean) (defaults to: true)

    Try to retain access to resources that may be unavailable because of privilege downgrades

  • port (String) (defaults to: '1194')

    The port the openvpn server service is running on

  • proto (Enum['tcp','udp']) (defaults to: 'tcp')

    What IP protocol is being used.

  • remote_host (Variant[String, Array[String]]) (defaults to: $facts['networking']['fqdn'])

    The IP or hostname of the openvpn server service.

  • cipher (String) (defaults to: 'AES-256-GCM')

    Cipher to use for packet encryption

  • tls_cipher (String) (defaults to: 'TLS-DHE-RSA-WITH-AES-256-GCM-SHA384:TLS-DHE-RSA-WITH-AES-256-CBC-SHA256:TLS-DHE-RSA-WITH-AES-128-GCM-SHA256:TLS-DHE-RSA-WITH-AES-128-CBC-SHA256')

    TLS Ciphers to use

  • resolv_retry (String) (defaults to: 'infinite')

    How many seconds should the openvpn client try to resolve the server’s hostname

  • auth_retry (Enum['none', 'nointeract', 'interact']) (defaults to: 'none')

    Controls how OpenVPN responds to username/password verification errors such as the client-side response to an AUTH_FAILED message from the server or verification failure of the private key password.

  • verb (String) (defaults to: '3')

    Level of logging verbosity

  • pam (Boolean) (defaults to: false)

    DEPRECATED: Boolean, Enable/Disable.

  • authuserpass (Boolean) (defaults to: false)

    Set if username and password required

  • tls_auth (Boolean) (defaults to: false)

    Activates tls-auth to Add an additional layer of HMAC authentication on top of the TLS control channel to protect against DoS attacks. This has to be set to the same value as on the Server

  • tls_crypt (Boolean) (defaults to: false)

    Encrypt and authenticate all control channel packets with the key from keyfile. (See –tls-auth for more background.)

  • x509_name (Optional[String]) (defaults to: undef)

    Common name of openvpn server to make an x509-name verification

  • setenv (Hash) (defaults to: {})

    Set a custom environmental variable name=value to pass to script.

  • setenv_safe (Hash) (defaults to: {})

    Set a custom environmental variable OPENVPN_name=value to pass to script. This directive is designed to be pushed by the server to clients, and the prepending of “OPENVPN_” to the environmental variable is a safety precaution to prevent a LD_PRELOAD style attack from a malicious or compromised server.

  • up (Optional[String[1]]) (defaults to: undef)

    Script which we want to run when openvpn client is connecting

  • down (Optional[String[1]]) (defaults to: undef)

    Script which we want to run when openvpn client is disconneting

  • sndbuf (Optional[Integer]) (defaults to: undef)

    Set the TCP/UDP socket send buffer size.

  • rcvbuf (Optional[Integer]) (defaults to: undef)

    Set the TCP/UDP socket receive buffer size.

  • shared_ca (Optional[String]) (defaults to: undef)

    The name of an openssl::ca resource to use.

  • custom_options (Hash) (defaults to: {})

    Hash of additional options that you want to append to the configuration file.

  • expire (Optional[Integer]) (defaults to: undef)

    Set a custom expiry time to pass to script. Value is the number of days the certificate is valid for.

  • readme (Optional[String]) (defaults to: undef)

    Text to place in a README file which is included in download-configs archive.

  • pull (Boolean) (defaults to: false)

    Allow server to push options like dns or routes

  • server_extca_enabled (Boolean) (defaults to: false)

    Turn this on if you are using an external CA solution, like FreeIPA. Use this in Combination with exported_ressourced, since they don’t have Access to the Serverconfig

  • remote_cert_tls (Boolean) (defaults to: true)

    Enable or disable use of remote-cert-tls used with client configuration
